Slaughter and the Dogs to Headline Special 50th Anniversary Event Celebrating the Legendary Lesser Free Trade Hall Gig.
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the historic Lesser Free Trade Hall gig in Manchester on 20 July 1976, Slaughter and the Dogs will headline a unique commemorative event at Rebellion Club, Whitworth Street West, Manchester, on Sunday 12 July 2026.
Featuring original members Mick Rossi, Howard Bates and Brian Grantham, Slaughter and the Dogs will lead an afternoon honouring one of the most important moments in British music history — a gig widely credited with helping ignite the punk movement and reshaping the future of Manchester music and beyond.
The event begins at 1:00pm with support from the UK’s leading Buzzcocks tribute band, BUZZKOCKS, setting the tone with high-energy performances celebrating another band synonymous with Manchester’s punk legacy.
Following the support set, Slaughter and the Dogs will take part in a live on-stage interview with renowned journalist and author John Robb, discussing the infamous Lesser Free Trade Hall concert — a night that famously “changed the world” and inspired countless musicians, promoters and writers.
The band will then perform a special set of classic songs, showcasing the material that helped define early UK punk and laid the groundwork for much of the music that followed from Manchester.
Running from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, the event has been deliberately timed to allow attendees to make the short walk to Castlefield, where the Sex Pistols also involved in that historic 1976 gig will be performing later that day as part of the wider 50th anniversary celebrations.
Please note this ticket includes a £0.50 venue levy for the maintenance and upkeep of Rebellion.
